BIG BIG Thanks!!!

Here's a really big thank you to everyone who helped out with Operation: Messiah!  Prompters, Set designers, sound crew, props master, costume assistants, hair and makeup assistants, everyone who baked cookies, And anything and everything else I might have missed!  I could NEVER have done this play without each and every single one of you!  I'm glad to have had you on my team, and would love to work with you again on the 

"Silver Screen" play in August and September!!!

A bit of a tease

Hello again!  I have been going through what FBC has and what I have as far as costumes go, 

and we are well on our way to having all of our costumes we'll need for the "Silver Screen" play!  

So, here's a bit of a sneak peek, as such, of what I've gathered....... enjoy!

Wow.....

Another play done already!  It always seems strange when it's over.  But I LOVED the way the set looked!  Thank you everyone for all of your help!  And great job everyone - backstage crew and actors!  I hope you had fun!
Some of you already know that our next play is going to be called "Once Upon the Silver Screen".  This one won't have a "message" like our last two, but I thought that it would be a fun time.  It will be made up of scenes from movies that have stood the test of time, so to speak.  This way everyone will get to wear fun costumes and have the chance to play a few different parts.  I'm not really going to hold "auditions" for this play - what I'm doing is asking everyone to please let me know that they'd like to participate in this play, so I can finalize who I think should play which parts.  We're going to be working on this all summer at a more relaxed pace, knowing that people come and go on vacations, and then more seriously in September.  So please RSVP!  We're going to take some time off with Easter and everything, and pick up again with a Club PLAY kick-off party on April 15th.


Also, there are going to be some parts in this next play that I REALLY want some adults to do, to get involved.  Some will main parts (again, they will be short scenes from different movies, so none of the parts are going to be very big) and others will be small or even non-speaking. So let's be brave and adventurous, all you "grown ups".  It's going to be a blast!

Great job on the commercials, everyone!  Also, you all did well at rehearsals, despite having to get used to the microphones and work out the kinks with all of that.  We're down to only one dress rehearsal to go, so my last bit of advice is just to keep everything fresh in your mind and let yourself have fun with it.  At our next rehearsal, my plan is to go over the areas where I see that we're still struggling with, and then we'll go through the whole thing one last time!  Everyone told me how great they thought you all did in the commercials!  Everyone is proud of you for all the work you've done, myself included.  Keep it up, and I'll see you on Saturday at 6:00 for our last dress rehearsal!

Rehearsals tonight!

Well, we're finally down to where we only have three rehearsals left before the show!  No scripts on stage tonight!  You all can do it!  Tomorrow at 1:30 is our first of two dress rehearsals, and the other one is next Saturday at 6pm.  Everyone really needs to do their best to be there!

For tonight, I'm encouraging everyone to really have fun, and BE their character on stage - talk loud, and don't rush through your sentences... talk clearly.  I'm not sure if we'll have microphones for tonight, but we should on Sunday (tomorrow), which, by the way, is COMMERCIAL DAY!  So - Jayna, Logan, Baylee, Brooklyn and Sierra, please be at church by 9:00 so we can meet up in the cry room and make sure we're ready.  We're going to be wearing our costumes, so - Jayna, can you wear your brown boots?  And Logan - don't forget your Indiana Jones stuff!  Hope to see you all tonight!  

Show Night schedule...

Hello everyone - cast, crew, and families!!

Here's how the night of the show is going to work.  We'll all get to the church by 5pm, on Sunday March 25th and share a potluck, picnic-style dinner together.  (If your last name starts with A - L, please bring some kind of salad - fruit, green, potato, macaroni, or even Jell-o ;  if your last name starts with M - Z, please bring something like sandwiches,  potato chips, fruit or veggies.)  I will provide the drinks (we won't do any cooking there).  There will be desserts after the play, so we don't need to worry about that.

At 5:30, all of the cast and crew needs to be in the green room to get ready!  The families are free to reserve seats.  I would like to ask if some of the parents would like to hand out programs at the main sanctuary doors until about 10 min. before the play starts?  If you'd like to do this, please let me know.  Thanks!

The play will start at 6:00 and should be over at around 7:00.  (refreshments afterward)

That's about it - our next rehearsal is on Saturday the 17th, at 6:00 pm.  Hope everyone will be able to make it!  (I already know that the Culbertsons won't be available)

Brainstorming

Well, little did I know that when I woke up this morning, and started working on costumes for Operation: Messiah, that I would be struck by what I think is a great idea for the Club's next play!  The title will be Once Upon the Silver Screen, and we'll do little scenes from movies over the years (and years and years) that have really been great, and have "stood the test of time" so to speak.  I was in a play similar to this, and it was a lot of fun.  Soo.... I'm already getting the specifics worked out for that, even as we're getting down to our show date for Operation: Messiah.  Also, we ARE doing a commercial on Sunday the 18th.  It won't be anything new, it will be things the kids have already memorized for the play.  I'll be sending out an email to the people who need to be in the commercial to let them know the specifics.

DONE!!

The backdrops are all finished! Thank you everyone who came out and helped during our three painting days!  It was a group effort, and they look great!  This week at rehearsals, we're going to start at the beginning and go all the way through again.  I probably sound like a broken record, but two important things to remember are: talk loud, and clearly - don't rush your sentences.  You're all doing better every week, but we only have 2 weeks left, so we need to be our absolute best.

Found it!!

A week or so ago, I thought that the Star of David necklace had gone missing, from our costumes.  Fortunately, it was found!  So, no worries there.  

A funny little story about that necklace - it was purchased by my then costumes/props assistant for a movie we were making based on the book Number the Stars by Lois Lowry.  The funny thing is, the girl who would wear the necklace was named Hannah, who was playing the character Ellen.  Now, we have Skyler who is playing the part of Hannah, and she'll be wearing the necklace.  So, from now on, that star is going to be officially called Hannah's Necklace.

Follow-up

Great job at rehearsals today everyone!! You're all progressing by leaps and bounds every week!!  I hope I didn't freak everyone out when I told you that there are only 21 days left until the play.  I just wanted everyone to have a perspective on how little time we have left!  :)  The memorizing is coming along fantastic - keep at it!  Next week is the last week we're allowing scripts on stage!

Also, thank you to everyone who got their fundraising money in today!  We're off to a GREAT start for the acting club!  Everyone else, don't forget to bring yours in next Sunday!

Friendly Reminders

Okay everyone, I know a lot of you kids want to be called the shmoo, but a lot of you don't.... SO, here's my solution:
