Well... we had our voting for the name of the Acting Club today. That was what we'll consider round one of voting. THIS is announcing round two. We had quite a few votes for "the Schmoo", but we had more votes for 'anything but the schmoo, PLEASE not the schmoo.'
As acting "leader" of the acting group, I am taking it upon myself to go with what I've had more in mind from the very beginning - a name that actually fits the purpose of the club.
SO, with that in mind, here are the three other most-voted-for possibilities. Please be part of the round two voting, and, by email, let me know what name you're voting for.
If people want to unofficially refer to themselves as the shmoo, that's fine with me, but I still think that the real name of the group needs to represent what we're actually about.

Crazyness.......
Well, today was a little crazy, but we got all the pictures we need for the display board and the program, so that's all done!! And we managed to get through to scene four during rehearsals, so that was a bit of practice anyway. Thank you everyone for all of your help!! My challenge to all of you actors this week it to try and spend 10 minutes (at least) every day working on your lines, but even just as importantly, practice saying them more slowly and clearly. And, focusing on the personality of your character. We're halfway there.... so, memorize, memorize, memorize!!!

Fundraising update!
I'm glad to know that people are enthusiastic about raising some money to help get our Kids Acting Club up and going officially! Our first fundraiser is underway: Everyone grab a jar and ask anyone and everyone for pennies, nickels, dimes.... try to fill the jar (and make sure you put your name in it!) and turn it in to me (Tia) on Sunday, March 4th. I will place all of the money into a fund specifically for the kid's club, for little things that we might need for plays, and I would like to be able to get the kids some t-shirts with the club name printed on it.........................
Which brings me to my next topic: naming the club. I have thought of some possibilities and gotten suggestions from the kids. The kids will be voting on the name next Sunday, February 26th.

Great Rehearsal!
Hello to all of you! We had a great rehearsal yesterday! I had intended for us to run through a few scenes, but we managed to get through the WHOLE play, and were able to do scene 7 again. Next week, Sunday the 26th, there is a baby/child dedication after second service, so there will be a TIME CHANGE for that Sunday only. Rehearsals will be from 1:30 - 2:30. Everyone really needs to try and do everything that they can to be there, because we'll be doing costume fittings and taking some pictures for the display board, as well as the fact that there are only going to be six more rehearsals, and everyone is doing GREAT on memorizing their lines, but we still have a lot of work to do as far as "blocking" goes, as well as bringing depth to our characters and just making sure that we're comfortable with knowing exactly what we're doing and when. :)
I have a lot of info to import to all of you, so to make it easier to sort out, I'm going to make a few smaller posts rather than one big post. Stay tuned!!

"It's a pleasure to participate in such an important project..."
Well, we had a great rehearsal today! We ran lines for a while, then rehearsed scenes 6 through 9 (the end).
Everyone is doing great! I just want to encourage everyone to keep spending as much time memorizing their lines during the week as they can.
It seems that we're going to be low on numbers next week, the 19th, so we're going to run lines again and then do some scenes. After that, on the 26th, we're going to start at scene 1 and see how far we get. Also on that day, we're going to have costume fittings. Everyone please try to make sure you're there on the 26th! That's also the day to vote on club names and turn in your fundraising money!

Backdrops!!
Well, it's February 7th, so we only have a month and a half left to go before the show date! Thank you to everyone who was able to come last week. It was a good opportunity, with about half of the cast absent, to have more one-on-one coaching with some of the actors. We also started working on some of the set decor - a small jungle hut.
For all of you stage crew adults, and any parents of the actors - we're going to have a backdrop-painting day on Friday the 10th at 3 pm at the church. If any of you are willing and/or able to come and help, many hands make light work! Please let me know if you plan on being there???

Changes for Sunday...
Hey everyone... there are going to be quite a few people absent from rehearsals for the next 2 weeks.
SOOO, this week, the 5th, we're still going to do scene 7 and maybe a bit after that, then I'm going to do a little "coaching". I'm also just getting over being sick. Next week, the 12th, we're going to work on some of the stage decorations after we do some rehearsing. Hope to see all of you who can make it on Sunday!

Rehearsals #3
Last week went great, everyone!! Thank you all for starting to memorize your lines already! Last week we started at the beginning and got through the end of scene 7, so this week, Sunday February 5th, we're going to start at the beginning of scene 7 and do that one again, and go through to the end.
Note: our lunch/snack can be messy, so please eat it out at the coffee bar tables and NOT on stage or in the sanctuary. Thank you!!
Second Note: Let's make this experience a fun and positive one, so let's all avoid any negative remarks that will discourage other actors. We need to be encouraging each other! Thank you again!!
